ARI - Aggregated Risk Index
The Aggregate Risk Index (ARI) is an index that describes the health risk increase due to the short term exposure to air pollution. It is derived by additively summing the product pollutant concentration weighted using the Relative Risk factors of increased mortality due to all causes, provided by the World Health Organization ( WHO-Air Quality Guidelines). This product is subsequently normalized on a scale that associates a risk increase of 16% to a ARI of level 4. The value displayed on the platform represents the geographical mean and maxima values of the daily average ARI for each Local Administrative Unit (LAU). Each ARI level is associated to specific reccomendations, available here: Health advices
UTCI - Universal Thermal Climate Index
The Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) is a thermal comfort index developed by Fiala et al. that combines multiple factors like air temperature, relative humidity, radiation and wind speed in a meterologiacal/phisiological model that takes into acoount the body response to different combination of these variables. The result is a paramenter that should described the percieved temperature on the body. The value displayed on the platform represents the geographical mean and maxima values of the daily average UTCI for each Local Administrative Unit (LAU). Each UTCI range is associated to specific health advises, available here: Health advices
